I love food. I love experiencing all the flavors and textures of the food and seeing the experience of what it's like making the food. The whole experience and process is very interesting to me. Here I’ll be describing some food from places I love.

Panera Bread is a great place, they sell baked goods,

sandwiches, soups, salads, and more. My favorite item to eat there is their BBQ Chicken Salad. It obviously contains chicken, a black bean and corn salsa, frizzled onions, bbq ranch and apple cider vinegar bbq. When I say it's one of the best salads I've ever had, it is. The bbq is tangy and sweet, while the chicken and black bean corn salsa make it savory which makes it the perfect.

Olive Garden is one of my favorite restaurants, they sell pasta, bread sticks, salad, soups, and desserts. My favorite is the Five Cheese Ziti Al Forno, containing their pasta, their signature five cheese blend mariana, and cheese on top. Unfortunately I could not find which cheeses they used in this dish. The cheese isn’t overpowering and the pasta is delicious. Another dish I love is their Chocolate Brownie Lasagna. Eight mini layers of brownie with vanilla cream cheese frosting in between topped with chocolate shavings and a chocolate sauce. This has been my go to desert there and even though I’ve had it over and over again it never gets old. The richness of the cream cheese and the fudgyiness of the chocolate brownie is so delicious.

I hope that you give these foods a try too as they are

some of my favorites.

The Bethel Levy is a levy that helps fund our school and activities. The levy is a renewal of one already in place. 98% of our funds go towards educational programs and staffing. The levy in February of 2022 failed to pass, which was a huge loss for our district. We will lose 30 million dollars starting fall 2022 and 20 million dollars in 2023 if it fails again. This will impact our school in many ways. Below is how.

  • Teachers and Administration would lose their jobs and staffing will be cut.

  • Sports would be cut in Middle school and/or highschool.

  • Concerts, Performances, dances would be cut.

  • There wouldn't be as many clubs.

  • Bigger class sizes with 34-36 kids per class.

  • Music Education would be heavily affected leaving some music classes to be cut.

  • There would not be as much security.

  • Transportation, kids in elementary school living within half a mile of their school would have to walk, and kids in middle and highschool living within one mile of the school would have to walk.

  • Smaller classes like smaller AP classes and intervention classes in middle schools would be cut.

  • Technology, our ipads and our computers would be reduced.

  • Elementary school Orchestra and Band would be cut?

This will affect all of us, students and staff. People who are involved in our schools clubs and sports will be devastated to see that something they love is gone, but we still have time. April 26th, 2022 is voting day . If you are 18 and older and eligible to vote go to the bethelsd.org and look for the levy page, There you can find more information to learn more. Let's get word out because only 15% of parents voted last time. We need every YES vote. Every vote counts.

Amani Courts has played on the GK soccer team for three years, and played soccer in total for 13 years. (Wow!) She has the amazing ability of being able to play any position in soccer. Amani currently plays as a goalie and enjoys her position on the team. She also loves the games themselves, as she is a competitive person. The GK soccer team is currently coached by Allyson Kopp, and had a fairly decent season, with four wins and four losses. A perfect tie! Now, I know the athletes reading this probably don’t like that, but I do think it’s awesome for them, because, looking back compared to now, they have been improving and that’s great!

To complete the highlight, we asked Amani some questions about herself and the team.

1. Why did you start playing soccer?

Amani: My parents have a rule that you have to be in a sport at all times and my brother was already in soccer so I joined really young.

2. Can you explain your position on the team?

Amani: My job in goal is to stop the shots of the other team (usually with my hands) and I am the last line of defense on the field

3. Do you think your team did well this season? Why or not?

Amani: Not really. Statistically speaking girls soccer as a whole didn't do too good this season. There were a lot of social issues this year that definitely interfered with the quality of play

4. Do you have aspirations to stay in soccer?

Amani: I don't, not after my club team ages out. After the team hits a certain collective age there is no longer a division for them.

5. If you had to play any other sport what would you play?

Amani: Probably football or track because I know things about them but tennis sounds fun to try.
